Lake Cd’A is an economic giant
OK, it’s not quite in the same class as Lake Michigan. But it’s way more than a drop in the bucket.
In fact, little ol’ Lake Coeur d’Alene is one of the mightiest lakefront real estate markets in America.
As this issue’s cover story explains, Lake Cd’A tips the springtime market scales at more than $211 million. Think about that incredible economic impact for just a moment. Because real estate has a tendency to turn over from time to time, it’s the economic impact kiss that can keep on putting smiles on many faces.
Now, back to Lake Michigan. According to LakeHomes.com, Lake Coeur d’Alene boasts nearly half the lakeside listings in all of Idaho, but how does it compare with some of the hottest selling lakefronts in the nation? Glad you asked.
Lake Michigan rules at $900 million. Lake Norman in North Carolina is next at $752 million; Lake Lanier, Georgia, $552 million; Lake Travis in Texas, $489 million; Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, and Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, $351 million; Lake Keowee, South Carolina, $338 million; Old Hickory Lake, Tennesee, $310 million; and Lewis Smith Lake in Alabama at $219 million.
That’s it. The $211 million puts Lake Coeur d’Alene in the Top 10 lakefront real estate markets nationally. Kootenai County also gets a big boost from Hayden Lake and its $35 million in listings.
OK, let’s forget for a moment that almost everybody reading this issue can’t afford one of these lakefront beauties. With the arrival of summer, the rest of us can still enjoy our lakes to our hearts’ content... just as soon as we’re done reading.
