Hayden Chamber: Re-set, re-adjust, re-start, re-focus … as many times as you need to

It’s August — the dog days of summer folks. How’s it going for you? Have you had some time to relax and reset? I am of the adage that it is important for us to reset regularly. As a matter of fact, I believe that we should reset daily. What does that really mean? We need to mentally take a step back in order to approach our day, life, family and business in a new and refreshed way — almost from a new and unique perspective.

This new view can be compared to hitting the reboot (or restart) button on your smartphone or your laptop or maybe even cleaning out your browser history of cookies and cached files. If it’s good for your electronics, why can’t it be good for us? Especially with all the challenges and fires that we put out on a daily basis; I encourage you to give it a try.

At the chamber, we had a busy July with the grand opening/ribbon cutting for Prairie Falls Golf Club, and Body Tech Skin & Massage Center.

At our July Networking, Business & Connections (NBC), we had the pleasure of listening to our guest speaker, Jessica Bauman with Express Employment Professionals, as she spoke about how to have effective conversations with employees, vendors, and even customers and the fear of giving feedback. It starts with clarity! Thank you, Jessica for a wonderful presentation.

After our NBC lunch, we welcomed the Autism Society of Idaho with their ribbon cutting.

We had a Chamber After Hours out at New Leaf Nursery as wine was served from Uncorked with Friends and tacos from Cochinito Taqueria and walked in the Hayden Days Parade with our “Christmas in July” theme passing out flyers with candy canes letting everyone know about our upcoming 3rd Annual Outdoor European Christmas Market the first weekend in December.

Our annual Summer Party was held on Aug. 24 at our NBC Luncheon. Members brought a $25 giveaway and got two minutes at the mic to introduce their business and let everyone know what is happening in their world.

This was another great opportunity to reset. But after August, fall rolls in fast beginning with the Sept. 13 Connecting Community & Business EXPO Fair as we bring this event back to Hayden at PEAK Health & Wellness Center on Centa Drive from 4-7 p.m. This will be for area Chamber businesses to showcase what they are about to the community. This is a free community event so make sure to come out and play our Business BINGO and win some great prizes from area businesses.

Remember as you are going out shopping for those back-to-school supplies to make sure to Shop Local, which has been a tagline for a long time. Even with the internet so popular and Amazon right at your fingertips, still stop and think Shop Local and help out your local business owners.

I encourage us all to take time to enjoy the outdoors and make memories with our loved ones before the crazy North Idaho seasons of summer, fall, winter and spring takes place in one day.
