Building a better workforce

In this era of rapidly changing technology, population growth and ever-shifting demographics, continued development of a skilled, adaptable workforce is more important than ever here in North Idaho.

This edition of the North Idaho Business Journal highlights many ongoing education initiatives and industry efforts specifically designed to strengthen the North Idaho labor force and as a result, the region's economy. Through this collaborative work, educational opportunities are created that open doors for residents to well-paying careers that enable them to stay in North Idaho and enjoy the high quality of life we enjoy here.

Still, there are challenges to overcome. The lack of affordable housing and child care creates obstacles for many in the region who would like to enter the workforce. Technological change has disrupted industries and reshaped job roles, creating a pressing need for upskilling and reskilling initiatives for existing employees. All this underscores the importance of fostering resilience and adaptability in the North Idaho workforce.

This is the final introduction I will pen for the North Idaho Business Journal. As I embark on a new journey, I’m excited about the future of this publication and confident in the capable hands that will continue guiding it forward.

Thank you to our readers. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your editor.
