40 Under 40: Michaela Woempner

Michaela Woempner, 31, is the agricultural programming manager for the North Idaho State Fair, a role in which she has been for about three years.

She originally started working at the fairgrounds 12 years ago as an intern and has been involved in some capacity ever since. Currently, she closely works with the founders of Farm to Table and Meet a Farmer events, both of which are interactive field trips designed to share education about agriculture. Woempner coordinates with committees and local youth agriculture programs to offer the Youth Stock Show and Sale. She also helps manage livestock and static exhibits, agricultural education and interactive areas, the Junior Fair Advisory Board and local entertainment.

"I’ve been lucky enough to get involved in the fair industry at a regional and national level as well, joining committees and stepping into leadership roles in their young professional groups," Woempner said.

Woempner is also a member of the Kootenai County Young Professionals and was recently elected to the Kootenai Environmental Alliance Board.

"I am incredibly excited and honored to be selected as a top 40 Under 40 recipient," she said. "I hope to encourage others in my community and industry to get involved and help share how our local leaders shine!"
