40 Under 40: Shayne McVay
Shayne McVay's father started Clearwater Springs Water Treatment in 2001 when Shane was 11.
At 16, he started working on jobs alongside his dad, learning about the industry and what being self-employed really means.
"Right out of high school I committed to becoming a water treatment specialist," McVay said.
Now 34 and the owner of Clearwater Springs, McVay's days are filled with customer service, sales and managing inventory.
"The first 12 years of my career I was a solo owner operator," he said. "Hiring installers and service technicians has been crucial to growing my business."
Earning the North Idaho Business Journal 40 Under 40 title is a huge accomplishment, the proud small business owner said.
"I almost exclusively work with local homeowners, so being recognized by the local community as one of the 40 Under 40 recipients is an honor," he said.
McVay said he is passionate about his industry.
"Helping families with water quality problems in their homes is extremely satisfying," he said. "I am grateful to have the freedom that being a small business owner comes with. It has allowed my family and I the time to create some amazing memories. I couldn't imagine it any other way."
