40 Under 40: Christina Bruse

Christina Bruse is the director and owner of AGE Heating and Cooling.

Bruse has a background in education and behavioral therapy. Her husband has always been in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry.

"When he wanted to start his own business a few years ago, he asked me to help with the administration and marketing side," Bruse said. "I grew up with my extended family owning their own businesses, so it was an easy transition for me to make."

She said her education and therapy background help her in the role of owner and director because as she efficiently manages her time, better trains employees and is successful in conflict resolution.

"Classroom management skills really do translate well to a professional work environment," she said. "My previous career in education has greatly shaped who I am today. Also becoming a mother has been a wonderful and challenging experience that continues to shape who I am as a person."

Bruse aims to be an entrepreneur in five to 10 years.

"I want to open more branches of our company and help them grow," she said. "I also want to expand my consulting career. I would love to spend more time consulting other companies on how they can grow and be successful."

Advice to her younger self: "Don't let other people tell you what you are capable of."
