40 Under 40: Chris Gregg

Gregg
With a long desire to be part of the healthcare industry, Chris Gregg's first part-time job in college was running medical records across Kootenai/Spokane counties.
He quickly realized that the hospital setting offered numerous job opportunities.
"As a young 20-something medical receptionist, I grew up with Northwest Specialty Hospital," he said. "My ability to connect with people soon aligned with needed growth in the HR world."
It was then, Gregg said, that he found his fit.
"I found my superpower: equipping people to be their best selves, advocating for people to find pathways of communication and trust, and finding the best talent in our community," he said.
His education took slight detour through his 20s as he balanced full-time work at NWSH and completing his degree over a several year period.
While his business degree is an important pillar to his professional acumen, Gregg said that experience in the field, healthcare professionals who became mentors, and industry-focused certification programs all are what he described as tools in his expanding toolbox.
He loves helping the hospital's employees and would like to see his level of HR influence include both this community and beyond.
"As I see it, the best thing to do with this knowledge I have gained is to share it and equip others," Gregg added. "Perhaps that's as an adjunct professor in HR courses or leading teams that span beyond this community. I would love to see myself help hospitals/healthcare locations on a more national scale."
Advice to his younger self: "Remember that this week's blunder will pass very quickly. Face each mistake with a humble spirit, ready to learn, and remember that these people are in your corner for a reason."
