40 Under 40: Hayden Thomas Anderl

Hayden Thomas Anderl is the principal at Anderl Real Estate and Development.

After college at the University of Idaho, Anderl worked as the top salesperson at a marketing startup in Seattle. After travelling the country and worked with Fortune 500 companies on advertising campaigns, he moved back to Idaho in 2016. It was then he started his company and became a licensed agent with Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty.

"My family has a history as local builders and developers and I wanted the opportunity to learn from my father," he said.

He was lucky to grow up in Coeur d'Alene and to go to school in the community. In both high school and college, he was able to seek out entrepreneurship courses and leadership roles.

"This has helped me scale my business quickly without many of the growing pains other businesses can face," he added. "I also learned how to effectively motivate and manage employees, while also hiring to help better my weaknesses and improve my client's experience."

Anderl said his college experience at the University of Idaho and his early years in sales have had a major influence in his life. And working for a startup with major clients taught him not to shy away from big projects or moments — and how to negotiate against the best.

His father and grandfather have also been major influences on me.

"Both worked for themselves and made a name here locally by being handshake guys,"  I make sure to keep my promises when doing business the same way they have.

Anderl has his sights set on becoming one of the area's major real estate developers in the area. He also plans to continue work on projects he believes will have a positive impact on my hometown. He would like to start a family and continue to enjoy the great things about living in North Idaho.

Advice to his younger self: "Buy Bitcoin and real estate, you won't have to work. Kidding but not really. I would say to focus on real estate earlier in my career and investing in things earlier but most importantly stay the course. Success is found at the intersection of preparation and opportunity.
