40 Under 40: Matt Hill

Matt Hill is the owner of Backcountry Upfitters.

Hill bought his first company when he was 19 after working in the industry for a year.

"I found I learned more hands-on than in a classroom setting," he said. "Therefore, after high school, I chose a career path that I could always continue to learn and grow in a hands-on environment."

Growing up in a blue-collar household, Hill learned from a young age that success has many forms.

"If you work hard, treat people with kindness and respect and are willing to keep pushing every day, anything is possible," he said.

In five to 10 years, he see himself leading a nationally recognized off-road shop, shipping jobs and parts across the nation.

If he could give advice to his younger self, he would say: "Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and dream bigger."
