40 Under 40: Ryan Gorman

Dr. Ryan Gorman is a nurse practitioner and owner of Cornerstone Urgent Care and Family Medicine.

Gorman's background in medicine started with emergency medical services and progressed to work in the emergency department. This evolved into rural family practice. Now he melds everything together with work at the Urgent Care.

"My education taught me to question everything and to be a lifelong learner," Gorman said. "My experience heavily influences my practice because there are nuances to health care that can only be lived and not taught. My education taught me to truly listen to the patient to gain understanding of their needs. It has sharpened my focus and helps to clarify treatment."

In five to 10 years, Gorman hope to continue the work he is doing now.

"I love working at my office," he said. 

Advice to a younger self: "Excellence comes through experience. Hard times prepare you for the future. Vigilance is vital."
