Lifehouse Healthcare: A relational approach to health care

When I started Lifehouse Healthcare, I initially thought it was because of a desire to “have my own practice,” a goal that had been fostered over the years working as a nurse practitioner. In achieving this goal however, what has become emphatically clear is a desire for a relational approach in healthcare. I don’t view my clients as “patients,” but rather as unique human beings that I am blessed to partner with for their healthcare goals. Clients that have blessed me with the opportunity to work with them will testify of a commitment to the cultivation of a relationship in our healthcare approach. In my office, there are often tears as well as smiles… and opportunities to pray with clients.

At Lifehouse Healthcare, a holistic approach to your healthcare is defined as an assessment of your physical, mental, social, and spiritual health. We truly try to understand an individual’s goals so as to help foster continued growth and wellness in each of those four areas. Healthcare should not be limited to one aspect alone, nor should it be compartmentalized. We often explore areas that go beyond an initial concern or “chief complaint” because we understand the interconnectedness of our lives in these bodies which are not limited to one organ system alone.

In a world of accelerated access to information, we still see people desiring connection, relationship, and authenticity. In this aspect, I have realized that there are many people still desiring this type of approach to healthcare. What initially started off as a goal to “have my own practice” has quickly become a goal of showing people that healthcare does not have to be a transactional visit with a healthcare provider. In this spirit, I have recruited like-minded professionals to approach healthcare in a way that embodies a holistic approach, while continuing to cultivate relationships.

At Lifehouse Healthcare, we have expanded our services to provide women’s healthcare, pediatrics, and psychiatric services, including counselors to provide guidance when needed. We hope that you will consider us next time you are in search of a new primary care provider, a second opinion, an evaluation or consultation, even a smile, or a shoulder to cry on, but especially hands to hold while we pray with you.
