HAYDEN CHAMBER: KANDI JOHNSON — It’s that time of year...

It’s time to do the “Happy Dance!” These long, warm days of summer are what we in North Idaho wait for all yearlong! In particular, this year — more than any other year — we say that it’s time for a “Happy Dance!”

One of the things that I have started doing this summer is to make a list — a list of all those things my family and I talk about doing but never seem to get around to doing. Our list this summer included a visit to the Inland Northwest Rail Museum in Reardon, Wash.; an eagle watching cruise on Lake Pend Oreille Cruises in Sandpoint; and spending a full summer day with the family at Spirit Lake. While making a list might seem like a simple task, it’s worthwhile. The simplicity of it is often overlooked during our busy days, and before you know it, summer has passed — and with it the opportunities to experience new adventures and spend time with friends and family.

As your hardworking chamber located in the heart of North Idaho, we are dedicated to bringing more business your direction and are constantly considering ways we can do this for our member businesses and the greater community that we live, work and play in.

In August, some of those ways included our “3 Clubs & A Putter Golf Tournament — Replay” that was sponsored by TDS and was held on Aug. 19 at Ponderosa Springs Golf Course in Coeur d’Alene. Our Monthly Hayden Chamber-TDS Breakfast will feature our annual H.A.Y.D.E.N. Awards program on Thursday, Aug. 27. This celebrated program is emceed by Kerri Thoreson, local celebrity, and honors citizens from our area in the areas of H for Human Rights or History; A for Arts; Y for Youth; D for Distinguished Citizen; E for Education and N for New or Noteworthy Business. This event is held at the Salvation Army Kroc Center located in Coeur d’Alene and begins at 7 a.m.

We are very excited for the upcoming fall months that bring a crispness to the air, and new adventures on the horizon that include partnering with the NIBCA at their Parade of Homes show the first two weekends in September and an upcoming fun “themed” event in October featuring local characters from Dreams are Forever Events.

We at Hayden Chamber of Commerce encourage you to make the most of EVERY day this month, and yes — do a “Happy Dance!” You deserve it!

We are here — stronger together — and we encourage you to have a WONDERFUL end to your summer 2020.
