Reporter Kaye Thornbrugh, 31, has been with the Coeur d'Alene Press for nearly seven years.

She primarily covers Kootenai County’s government, as well as law enforcement, the legal system and North Idaho College.

"As a second-generation Kootenai County resident, it’s a privilege and a pleasure to report the news and share the community’s stories in my hometown," Thornbrugh said.

Thornbrugh said she believes a well-informed community is an empowered community.

"To that end, I work alongside my colleagues at The Press to hold decision makers accountable and provide readers throughout this county with the timely and accurate news they need to make choices for themselves and their families," she said. "I love North Idaho and I feel grateful every day to serve this community."

She said her goal as a reporter is to be largely invisible as she goes about her work.

"It was a big surprise and an honor to learn I’d been named a 40 Under 40 winner," Thornbrugh said.
