Selah Glendening, 29, has been the owner of Sélon Coeur d'Alene at 3500 N. Government Way in Coeur d'Alene for nearly three years.
She started her career as a hairdresser at that same salon in the spring of 2014. In fall 2021, she purchased the salon from the previous owner.
"I do hair color, cuts, extensions and styling for weddings and events as well as making the salon presentable and paying the big and little bills," Glendening said.
She loves what she does, and has had her sights on this career since she was 14 years old.
Glendening was homeschooled from kindergarten through 12th grade, the oldest girl of eight children and two loving parents. Her parents both owned various small businesses and displayed a great example of how to run a business.
She said she feels honored to be named a 40 Under 40 winner.
"It was very thoughtful and sweet of those who nominated me," she said.
