The Snake Pit to reopen in April

With possibly the most interesting website in North Idaho, The Snake Pit will reopen in April with new owners and plans.

Built In 1880 at 1480 Coeur d'Alene River Road, now in the Kingston area, new owners Viljo and Autumn Basso plan to retain the charm to the place that has received many names and occupants over its 144 years. The restaurant will have indoor and patio and picnic seating with a gazebo.

The website of www.snakepitidaho.com is absolutely fascinating. Starting with limited hours, summer hours will begin on Memorial Day. Phone 208-682-3453. The Bassos also have the Syringa and Midtown Bluebird places on Fourth Street. Chad Oakland of Northwest Realty Group handled the sale.

Hula Pot restaurant opens in downtown Cd'A

Featuring a Hawaiian theme and menu, Hula Pot restaurant has opened at 114 N. Fourth St. in the former Canton location.

Owners Vincent and Jennifer Fong feature Hawaiian barbecue and hot pot with beer, wine, sake and soju with 76 seats, induction burners, two TVs, takeout and deliveries.

Mavericks Men's Hair changes downtown

Offering a variety of options for men's heads, Mavericks Men's Hair has changed owners and experiences in the Innovation Den at 418 E. Lakeside Ave. (Suite 110) downtown.

Yummy Crab Seafood opens

Offering a major menu with numerous options, Yummy Crab Seafood opened in the former Golden Corral building at 348 N. Fruitland Lane (west of U.S. 95).

The choices include appetizers, soups, fried baskets, rice, extras, a kids menu and several seafoods in different combos, flavors and spice levels, desserts, sodas, juices, beer and wine.

The facility has several tables in various rooms, a party room and five TVs. With its headquarters in North Carolina, the company has 32 places. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

With a full list of liquors, beer and wine, Vintage 77 Bar & Lounge is in The Plaza at 740 N. Cecil Road (Suite 104) in Post Falls.

Open in more than 17,000 locations nationally, Napa Auto Care has opened in a new building at 344 S. Beck Road in State Line.

Napa started as National Automotive Parts Association in 1925. Its first location was in Detroit. It has 66 places in Idaho.

• Runge's Furniture at 303 E. Spokane St. is closed for remodeling and will add Trader Joe's in about half the space.

• Flo's Coffee will be on Seltice Way east of Coeur d'Alene Honda.

• Takara Restaurant at 309 Lakeside is "Closed until further notice."

• A new larger building for The Oval Office is under construction on Spokane Street in Post Falls. It should be complete this summer with owner Raci Erdem, general contractor Rob Harsh and architect Mark Latham.

• A Marriott Hotel will be on about a half acre at 602 and 612 E. Sherman Ave. The six-story hotel will include 131 guest rooms, 130 parking stalls on the main level and three levels underground, an administration area, a bar, kitchen, lounge, dining area, meeting area, laundry, fitness room and a rooftop patio bar.

• A new facility for Peak Health and Wellness Center is under construction at 4425 N. Fennecus Road in Post Falls. It will move in August from 927 E. Polston (Suite 101). The new place will include eight indoor and eight outdoor pickleball courts, strength equipment, cardio and group fitness, a kids club, juice bar, pro shop and full locker room.

• The Goodwill store on Fourth Street will reopen in the summer with a $3 million remodel.

• North Point Plaza is the name of a commercial development planned for the northeast corner of Highway 41 and Poleline Road north of Post Falls. The project will include a Grocery Outlet and 7-Eleven store and seven pad sites for future projects. The developer is Corhaven Properties (www.corhaven.com). Stores should open late in 2024. • DOMA Coffee Roasting Company will open a cafe in the 3,000-square-foot main floor in the new building off the Centennial Trail at 3091 S. Atlas Road. • The Thomas George building under construction at Third Street and Front Avenue downtown will be 18 stories.
